"I am a Black Sheep. Rejected by the institution, but held by the Saviour."

MY STORY

My name is Titus, and I am here because I have nowhere else to go but Jesus.

My journey with Christ began in 2002. Over two decades, I have served as a deacon and mentor, moving through traditional and charismatic circles alike. In 2019, my study shifted to systemic, verse-by-verse immersion (I'm only about half way done an exegesis study of the entire Bible), giving me a firm grasp on how the entire narrative of Scripture fits together—its overarching themes, prophecy, historical context, and the timeline of God's redemptive plan.

Yet my true seminary wasn't in a traditional classroom—it was forged in a jail cell.

The Trial of Faith

In 2024, my life was leveled. Facing legal charges and incarceration, I found myself in a dark place where I was severely beaten—not just for the accusations against me, but for my refusal to stop reading the Bible and proclaiming the name of Jesus. During those four months, I experienced complete abandonment. The churches I had served turned away, family stepped back, and my marriage entered a painful separation.

In that cell, I had nothing but a plastic mat, and one blanket. But with God's providence and plan I also had a Bible, the Holy Spirit, and time.

Like Paul and Silas, I learned that God’s Word cannot be chained. After repenting of my own sin nature and surrendering fully to Christ’s authority, I was miraculously released without a court appearance—on the exact day the Spirit showed me I would be free.

Saturated in the Word

In the furnace of 2024 and 2025, reading Scripture became a consuming fire. I immersed myself in the text cover-to-cover 8 times—including intensive 10-day cover to cover, and then a 12-day chronological read through the entire Bible. EVERY WORD.

Through total saturation and rigorous study of the entire New Testament and Old Testament, the Scriptures came alive as a single, connected truth.

My authority to teach and mentor does not come from a title or a degree. It comes from a life grounded directly in the text. Whether I am sharing a topical message to speak directly into a current struggle or bringing a real-talk word of encouragement, it all comes out of a deep immersion in God's Word.

The Narrow Road of Repentance

Following my release in September 2024, I spent a month homeless and locked out of my former life

. It was during this period of wandering that God laid the vision for Black Sheep Church on my heart.

In 2025, even though the most substantive charges against me were dropped, I chose to plead guilty to a lesser charge to acknowledge my personal struggles, and to keep from pushing the people I love onto the stand in a trial. Rather than fighting for self-justification, the Holy Spirit led me to the narrow road of radical honesty and repentance—choosing to submit my "thorn in the flesh" to the Lord.
